TourGroups must not describe an operator or listing as “verified” until the stated check is completed and recorded. Before real bookings open, the platform operator must confirm its own travel-agent registration, liability insurance and legal identity.
Operator verification
Before an operator can accept bookings, we require evidence appropriate to the service offered. Checks may include:
- legal name, registration number, address and authorized representative;
- registration as a tour operator or travel agent in the applicable category;
- current liability insurance and any activity-specific insurance;
- guide qualifications, vehicle and accommodation documents where applicable;
- bank-account ownership and tax receipt capability; and
- emergency contacts, itinerary risk assessment and incident plan.
We may pause listings while documents are renewed or investigated. Mongolia’s Tourism Law requires tour operators and travel agents to be registered and to maintain liability insurance.
Tourism Law of MongoliaHonest listing standards
Prices, dates, group limits, route difficulty, accommodation, transport, meals, exclusions, cancellation rules and material risks must be clear before booking. Operators must have evidence for safety, license and quality claims. TourGroups may correct, suspend or remove inaccurate or misleading content.
A badge describes only the checks stated next to that badge. Ratings and reviews must come from genuine experiences and may not be bought, manipulated or retaliated against.
Before you book
Read the full itinerary, cancellation rule and operator details. Tell the operator about accessibility needs, allergies and health conditions that materially affect safe participation. For remote and higher-risk trips, travelers should carry appropriate medical and evacuation insurance even where it is not legally mandatory.
Tour progress includes verified active travelers only. A submitted but unverified request does not increase the public count. Reaching the stated minimum shows sufficient verified interest to begin confirmation; it does not mean payment is complete or guarantee departure.
Age, fitness, equipment and document requirements must be shown before payment. Minors may book or travel only with the consent and supervision required by law and the operator’s published rules.
Payments and refunds
Payments should be processed through a bank or payment provider authorized for the relevant service. TourGroups will show the total price and any platform fee before confirmation. Payment-card details should remain with the payment provider rather than being stored by TourGroups.
Where a refund is due, it should be returned through the original payment channel unless law or the payment provider requires another verified method. The operator responsible for the service must issue any legally required electronic tax receipt.
National Payment System LawTrip safety
The tour operator remains responsible for running the trip safely, giving accurate information and responding to changing conditions. Operators must brief travelers, use suitable guides and equipment, keep emergency contacts, and stop or modify an activity when conditions create an unreasonable risk.
Accident insurance is legally mandatory for participants and specified personnel in high-altitude mountaineering, sport or trophy hunting, deep diving, motorsport and helicopter tours. TourGroups may require insurance for other risk-based trips as a platform rule.
Community conduct
Travelers, operators and guides must treat others with dignity and follow Mongolian law. Violence, threats, harassment, discrimination, sexual misconduct, exploitation, trafficking, theft, fraud, dangerous intoxication, environmental damage and harm to cultural heritage are prohibited.
Operators may remove a participant whose conduct creates a real safety risk. Any removal, refund or additional cost must be handled consistently with the booking contract and mandatory consumer law.
Data and account safety
We collect only information needed to operate accounts, bookings, safety checks, payments and legal obligations. Access is limited by role. Sensitive information should be shared with an operator only when necessary and with a valid legal basis or consent.
Users may ask whether their information is held, request correction, and request deletion where the law permits. We maintain access controls, incident procedures and security measures intended to protect confidentiality, integrity and availability.
Law on Personal Data ProtectionIncidents and complaints
Report safety incidents, fraud, misleading listings, harassment, privacy concerns or payment problems as soon as possible. Preserve booking confirmations, messages, photographs, receipts and medical or police records where relevant.
- Contact emergency services when anyone is in immediate danger.
- Notify the operator so it can provide on-the-ground assistance.
- Send TourGroups the booking reference, facts, requested outcome and evidence.
- We acknowledge, triage and preserve relevant platform records, then coordinate with the responsible operator or payment provider.
We may restrict an account or listing while a serious report is investigated. This does not determine civil or criminal responsibility.
Scope of verification
Verification reduces obvious platform risk but cannot eliminate travel risk or guarantee future conduct. It is not a government endorsement, an insurance policy, or a promise that every statement will remain accurate. TourGroups remains responsible for its own legal duties and cannot use this notice to exclude rights or remedies that Mongolian law makes mandatory.
